The Hospital started on 22nd August 1965 in an old colonial farm house, which was given by the first president of Kenya Mzee Jomo Kenyatta to the late Bishop of Nyeri Diocese Bishop Gatimu with an aim of starting a Hospital in Nyandarua Zone.
It began as a health center with only 25 beds under the management of Padua priests and the religious congregation of Little Daughters of St. Joseph. Il has expanded and today it has 192 beds.
It provides health care services to a catchment population of around 180,000 people with services of 4th level and some specialized care at 5th level in orthopedic, gynaecology, urology, ENT, oculist, and up-to-date diagnostic.
